Giving Electronic Devices, Building Digital Capabilities

The digital divide in Indonesia is most deeply felt in underserved communities. Limited access to technology and basic digital literacy continues to block pathways to education and economic opportunities. The COVID-19 pandemic only made things worse. As schools closed, the academic gaps widened with many students left without the tools to continue learning from home. While the crisis highlighted the need for inclusive tech-based education solutions, the reality hit when students in rural areas were simply not equipped for online learning.

To address this, BersamaCERDAS was launched to help bridge the digital divide even in the middle of a pandemic. The program distributed refurbished laptops preloaded with learning materials, reaching more than 5,700 children and 300 educators across Indonesia. But BersamaCERDAS didn’t stop at just providing devices. In collaboration with partner organizations, the program also focused on building digital skills for both students and teachers. This ensures they could fully benefit from the technology and continue learning effectively.
