Established a free semi-permanent isolation center and Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen generating plants during Covid-19 health crisis
How GIF and Partners Created a Quick yet Resilient Healthcare System
Indonesia's healthcare infrastructure wasn’t prepared for the influx of patients due to the covid-19 pandemic. In response to this crisis, GoTo and other private sector donors enabled the rapid construction of 500 hospital beds across four semi-permanent barracks in three weeks time. These facilities were free and located strategically to serve as an active referral center for hospitals. The support of the Indonesian Armed Forces Health Center ensured first-response readiness, operational efficiency, and minimized logistical challenges. Patient registration was also easy through a collaboration with Halodoc.
GIF acknowledged that there is a need to build a more resilient and sustainable healthcare system. In partnership with KADIN and Oxygen for Indonesia, 45 Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen generating plants were constructed across 30 provinces. This technology enabled hospitals to become oxygen self-sufficient, reduce dependency on long-distance transportation, and offer lower safety risks compared to storing large numbers of combustible oxygen. Most importantly, these PSA plants increase national capacity to respond to future health emergencies
