In a world filled with complex challenges and boundless opportunities, a burning question echoes in our hearts: Can each of us be a changemaker? Some may argue that only a select few possess the power to change the world, while others firmly believe that anyone, regardless of background, can become a catalyst for positive change. But the real question that awaits an answer is this: Why do we need changemakers?

“We need changemakers, do we?”
“We need changemakers, do we?”

The world we inhabit is undergoing rapid transformations, with interconnected issues such as poverty, climate change, and inequality demanding innovative solutions. These hurdles are too vast for a single entity to surmount. This is where changemakers step forward, not as superheroes, but as everyday people fueled by passion and courage. They inspire us to unite and forge a better future together. So, the answer becomes clear: Yes, we need changemakers.

“But, who are these changemakers? Are they some kind of superheroes?”
“But, who are these changemakers? Are they some kind of superheroes?”

They are not extraordinary beings with superpowers. They are ordinary individuals, just like you and me, who embrace their calling to make a difference. Take Malala Yousafzai, whose bravery in advocating for girls’ education garnered global support, or the young climate activist Greta Thunberg, whose passion ignited a global movement for climate action. Closer to home, Dedhy Trunoyudho, founder of Garda Pangan, exemplifies the power of ordinary individuals creating extraordinary impact in their communities.

“So, can everyone be a changemaker?”
“So, can everyone be a changemaker?”

While it’s empowering to believe so, we must acknowledge that not everyone has equal access to resources and opportunities. Nonetheless, each person possesses the potential to be a changemaker within their own sphere of influence. Being a changemaker doesn’t always require grand gestures; it can start with small, meaningful actions within families, communities, and workplaces.

Embracing inclusivity lies at the heart of unlocking everyone’s potential as changemakers. A nurturing environment that supports individuals, regardless of background or circumstances, is essential. Through education, mentorship, funding, and collaborative platforms, we can empower individuals to become effective changemakers.
